Micaela Blei
Writer and Performer
Micaela Blei is a storyteller, doctoral student, former elementary school teacher and Senior Manager of Education at The Moth.
Micaela taught third grade for 8 years, if you count a year of substitute teaching, which you should. It's a real job. Her solo show for kids, "City of Islands," was produced in 2002 at The Tank Theater and was a "Don't Miss" pick in Time Out New York.
Micaela is a two-time Moth GrandSLAM champion, Moth MainStage storyteller and has toured nationally with the Unchained Tour. Her stories can be heard on The Moth Radio Hour and podcast, and on Dingmantics, Narrative.ly, Soundtrack Series and others. The Daily Dish recently called her “hilarious and heartrending.”
Micaela has also facilitated storytelling workshops and performance programs in schools across New York City as well as for Google, Humanity in Action, DreamYard Project, Barnard College, Lincoln Center Education, and others. She co-founded and designed The Moth High School StorySLAM Program and The Moth Teacher Stories Program.
